Privacy Policy

Godot Launcher ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use https://godotlauncher.org or its documentation at https://docs.godotlauncher.org.

1. Who We Are​

Godot Launcher is an open source project maintained by Mario Debono and contributors. For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@godotlauncher.org.

2. Information We Process​

The website does not provide user accounts, contact forms, subscriptions, or mailing-list signup forms. We do not ask you to submit account or profile data.

Our hosting and analytics providers may process limited technical and usage information, including:

  • Pages and links visited
  • Download and command-copy interactions
  • Time spent on pages, clicks, scrolls, and mouse movements
  • Browser, device, operating system, and screen information
  • Approximate location inferred from an IP address
  • Referrer, page URL, performance, and diagnostic information
  • A pseudonymous browser or session identifier when analytics consent is given
  • Basic hosting logs and request metadata

Microsoft Clarity may also process page structure and interaction information to provide heatmaps and session playback. Text entered into input fields is masked by Clarity. This website does not use Clarity's Identify API to send a custom user identifier.

The documentation site uses Algolia DocSearch. Search terms and related technical request information are sent to Algolia when you use documentation search. We do not enable Algolia Insights behavioral event tracking.

We use a consent tool provided by 68 Publishers to store your cookie choices and communicate them to Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity through Google Consent Mode. Non-essential analytics cookies are disabled unless you consent to analytics storage.

You can accept or reject analytics cookies from the consent banner. You can review or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. Withdrawing consent prevents further consent-based analytics storage and causes the website to clear supported first-party analytics cookies.

4. Analytics Services​

Google Analytics 4​

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate website usage and measure interactions such as installer downloads and Winget command copies. Google Analytics receives the consent state selected in the cookie banner. When analytics storage is denied, Google Consent Mode prevents Analytics from reading or writing analytics cookies. Google may still receive limited, cookieless measurement signals where supported by Consent Mode.

Google's processing is governed by its Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data safeguards.

Microsoft Clarity​

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors navigate and interact with the website through aggregate insights, heatmaps, and session playback. Clarity reads the Google Consent Mode state produced by our consent tool. When analytics consent is denied, Clarity operates without analytics cookies and limits features that require a persistent visitor or session identifier.

Clarity playback data is generally retained for 30 days. Click and heatmap data, and sessions that are labeled or favorited, may be retained for up to 13 months. For more information, see Microsoft Clarity data retention and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Algolia DocSearch​

We use Algolia DocSearch to provide search on the documentation site. When you perform a search, Algolia processes the search terms and technical request information needed to return results. Algolia Insights is disabled, so the documentation site does not send separate search-result click or conversion events to Algolia. See Algolia's Privacy Policy.

We use analytics to understand website performance, improve content, identify usability problems, and measure whether download instructions are effective. Where consent is required, the legal basis for non-essential analytics storage and related processing is your consent. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Essential processing, including serving the websites, documentation search, basic security, hosting logs, and remembering your consent choice, may be necessary to provide the requested service or may be based on our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, as permitted by applicable law.

6. Hosting and International Processing​

The website and documentation site are hosted on GitHub Pages, a static-site hosting service provided by GitHub, Inc. GitHub may process request logs and technical information as part of providing and securing the hosting service. See GitHub's Privacy Statement.

GitHub, Google, Microsoft, and Algolia may process information in countries outside your country of residence. Their privacy documentation describes the transfer mechanisms and safeguards they use for international processing.

7. Your Rights​

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal data, including rights to:

  • Request access, correction, deletion, or restriction
  • Object to certain processing
  • Receive portable data where applicable
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Because the website does not provide accounts or directly collect submitted profile information, we may not be able to associate analytics records with a named individual. Provider-specific rights and controls may also be available through Google, Microsoft, GitHub, or your browser.

8. California Privacy Rights​

California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, including rights to know, correct, or delete personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing where applicable.

We do not sell personal information. We do not knowingly use website analytics to collect sensitive personal information or build named user profiles. For related requests, contact privacy@godotlauncher.org.

9. Changes to This Policy​

We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, providers, or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
